Safety at Street & Road Works

 Course

This course will give you foundation training and assessment in Safety at Street and Roadworks and is suitable if you have received no formal instruction or, if you wish to refresh your skills, we offer a short duration course.

The N714 Safety at Street and Roadworks course is meticulously designed with the paramount objective of imparting both practical skills and a profound understanding of safety measures necessary for candidates. It aims to ensure that participants are fully equipped to prepare and arrange Signing, Guarding, and Lighting effectively, thereby safeguarding not just the workers but also the general public at road and street works sites.

Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and other relevant legislation and guidelines

New roads & street works act 1991 and ACOP

Chapter 8 of the DOT traffic signs manual

Basic principals for safe street works

Pre operational equipment checks

Prepare work area

Site layout, equipment needed, sign lighting & reflectorisation

Traffic control, foot ways, prepare 30mph carriageways, 40mph carriageways & dual carriageways

Working near pedestrian crossings, road junctions, level crossings, and roundabouts and other layouts e.g. T junctions

End of shift checks

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practicals. You will be assessed through theory and practical tests.

A good understanding of spoken and written English.

Training and assessment can be delivered on site or at our training venue, at a date to suit.
