The National Water Hygiene (blue card) scheme ensures the protection of public health and promotes good water hygiene practices. The scheme was developed in collaboration with all UK water companies and is a requirement for access to clean water sites or ‘Restricted Operations’.
Who is this Training for?
The EUSR National Water Hygiene (blue card) training is a requirement for all individuals entering clean water sites or working on the clean water network, known as ‘Restricted Operations’.

What is involved?
All required knowledge and awareness of good water hygiene practices are covered. The course comprises the following modules:
The importance of water
Water as a carrier of disease
Potential contamination and its consequences
Preventing contamination
On completion of the National Water Hygiene training and assessment, candidates will understand the importance of playing a part in maintaining clean and safe drinking water and protecting public health.
How is this course assessed?
The course duration is normally around half a day (approx. 3 hours). The course is an interactive trainer-led delivery and candidates are invited to share and discuss experiences with the group.
Costs shown include the EUSR registration and virtual card(s). From February 14th, candidates receive virtual cards (accessible on mobile phones) instead of physical plastic cards. If plastic cards are still required as an addition, these can be added to your order at checkout. Please note, that a plastic card cannot be ordered in replacement of a virtual card.
